The hill resort of Gulmarg or “Meadow of Flowers” is one of the fantasy place coming straight out of your dreams. The valley is 3km long and a kilometer wide. PLACES AROUND GULMARG
Skiing & Heliskiing – Asia’s one of the most famous Heli-skiing resort. Come December, and the flourishing green slopes of Gulmarg are blanketed with snow, forming some of the most beautiful natural hills for ski runs of all levels.
Golf Courses – also has one of the world’s highest green golf courses, and a clubhouse, which is a historical building in its own right.
Gondola Lift – For a fun-filled ride of a most unusual kind, it’s newly constructed Gondola lift from high above Gulmarg, through pine-clad slopes, is exhilarating.
Alpather Lake – Beyond Khilanmarg, 13-km from the city at the foot of the twin 4, 511-metre Apharwat peaks, this lake is frozen until mid of June, and even later on one can view lumps of ice hovering in its cold waters.
The Ningli Nallah – Flowing from the melting snow and ice on Apharwat and the Alpather Lake, this beautiful mountain stream is 8km from the city. The stream proceeds down into the valley below and joins the Jhelum River near Sopur.
Biosphere Reserves – The reserve area is located at a distance of 48 km from Srinagar, to its southwest. It is famous for retaining various rare and endangered species such as the musk deer, and a rich and varied avifauna.
