A Driving license is a government-issued license certifying that the holder is eligible to operate a motor vehicle (bike, bus, car, truck and so on). Any person who wants to operate a motor vehicle is mandated by law to hold a valid driving license, failing which the offender is expected to pay a fine. Repeat offenders may also face jail time or/and fine too.
It is also accepted as a proof of identity and address proof for various documentation and legal purposes. It lists the name, Date of birth and address of the holder. A person, who have shifted their permanent residence address, must make changes to the address on the driving license, by making an application to the particular Regional Transport Office (RTO).
How to change an address on the Driving License?
Step 1: Obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or Clearance Certificate (CC) from theRegional Transport Office (RTO), from where the original driving license It is. 8. Self-attested certificate of age and address with confirmation from First Class Judicial Magistrate or an ExecutiveMagistrate
9. In case the person is a foreigner, a certificate of address and attestation of addresses in India
Step 4: After you have acquired the documents as mentioned above, you must go to the RTO and meet the administrator in the Driving License Section. All the documents will be verified, and the candidate is required to pay fees for the smart card and alteration in an address. The applicable fees are Rs 200 for the smart card and Rs 20 for changing the address.
Step 5: Once the receipt for fees is collected, the person is called to take a photo and for biometric information such as iris scan and fingerprint scan. Afterthat, an acknowledgement is given for future reference.
In case the candidate is changing an address within the same city, the new driving license will be sent to the residential address in a few days through Indian Postal Services. If the change of address is from a separate city or state, the driving license will arrive at the residential address between 30 to 60 days. This is because in this case, the application will be sent to the Regional Transport Office that initially issued the driving license for verification.
