Ootacamund or Ooty is the capital of the Nilgiris District. It is famous for the pleasant picnic spots; still, the chief attraction remains the mile-long tea gardens. Nobody skips the Nilgiri Toy Train ride whether you are an adult or a kid. It takes you along the striking topography of the Nilgiris.

The best time to Visit in November and March. However, you can also travel Ooty during April-June, but during this period the hill station remains a bit crowded.

Mariamman Temple – This temple is located near the Market, and is dedicated to a local deity- goddess of rain. The artwork on the temple is splendid.

Botanical Garden – This garden is a primary tourist attraction for those who tour Ooty, one of the most attractive hill stations of India. Dodabetta peak, which is the highest point in Ooty.

Government Museum– This museum is situated at Mysore Road, it has items of tribal objects, district’s ecological details and typical sculptural arts and crafts of Tamil Nadu. It was set up in 1989, with a view to give educational benefits to the residing.

Ooty Lake – This beautiful lake was built in the year 1825 by the collector of Coimbatore to render better irrigation facilities to the people. This charming lake allows boating and fishing activities for its visitors.

St. Stephens Church – Built during 1830, it is presumably the oldest in the Nilgiri region. The cemetery close to the church houses the grave of the founder of Ooty, John Sullivan and is essential for a historical point of view.

Dodabetta Peak – Standing at an altitude of 2,623 meters, it is the highest point in the district. This offers some fantastic views of the picturesque valleys and Nilgiri hill ranges.

Summer Festival – The Summer Festival is held every year during the month of May in the beautiful Botanical Garden. Various cultural events and flowers shows are the prime features of this festival.
